Mubadala’s Sanad Aerotech inks $6.5bn deal with Rolls-Royce
Sanad Aerotech will more than triple the number of Trent 700 engines

UAE – Mubasher:  Sanad Aerotech, formerly known as Aerospace Turbine Services & Solutions and a fully-owned subsidiary of Mubadala Investment Company, announced on Monday the conclusion of a landmark agreement with Rolls-Royce to become a Rolls-Royce Trent 700 Authorised Maintenance Centre (AMC).

Valued at $6.5billion or AED 23 billion, this agreement will allow Sanad Aerotech to provide complete overhaul services for Trent 700 engines.

Under this agreement, Sanad Aerotech will more than triple the number of Trent 700 engines it services each year to 75 when compared to the current 22.

“This represents 25% of the global Trent 700 engine maintenance conducted annually, which will cement the company’s global position as the leading Trent 700 MRO service,” according to a press release on Monday.

CEO of Sanad Aerotech Mansoor Janahi commented, “The magnitude of this agreement will benefit the UAE economy greatly over the coming nine years and reinforce Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading global aerospace hub.”

The Abu Dhabi-based MRO currently overhauled more than 90 Trent 700 engines; with this new agreement, this number will grow to more than 600 over the contract period.

Therefore, to meet the increased load, the MRO is expanding its workforce by over 40% to almost 500 aircraft engineers and technicians.

Chief Customer Officer - Civil Aerospace at Rolls-Royce Dominic Horwood said, “It’s great to welcome Sanad Aerotech to our Global CareNetwork. As our family of Trent engines continues to grow, we are expanding our services network and continually reducing engine maintenance turnaround times, so airlines can keep passengers flying. Sanad Aerotech has a proven track record in working with the Trent 700, and will be a valuable addition to our network.”
